"Massive Timbers" - The Exterior
Alaska Riverfront Log Home
View Coming Up Driveway

Exterior

The log exterior of this home is also highlighted by the extraordinary characteristics of the massive fire killed Montana Douglas Fir logs.  Clear oiled to a natural golden brown, the exterior of the home exudes a sturdy warmth and comfort.  Upon arriving at the end of the tree lined 1500 foot long private gravel driveway, you are greeted by an inviting raised front porch with timber posts and hand peeled and shaped balusters framing the entrance to the house.

The massive log beams extend out from the interior walls providing a sturdy platform for the extended Denali green metal roof that covers the front porch, front and rear balconies and deep graveled sides of the house.

The house is skirted with vertically sawn knotty boards and bats stained to match the logs.  Flower boxes and wood lattice are on each side of the front steps.  A spacious raised rear deck with its large timber posts set on concrete piers and hand peeled and shaped balusters sits a mere 50 feet from the stable treed banks of the Tanana River and Blue Creek.

Across a small grassed area adjacent to the house, sit two historic log cabins nestled into the trees along the banks of Blue Creek.  The cabins provide a perfect opportunity for unique guest housing.

Garage

A 28’ x 32’ extended two car garage with a spacious rear shop area is located across the driveway from the house.

The garage is constructed from locally harvested and milled 8” three sided logs with a forest green metal roof and sits on a poured 6” steel reinforced concrete slab with in-floor radiant heat and a 4’ Quadlock insulated form footing.

Insulated water and heat lines run underground from the house to the garage.  The garage floor has an interior water spigot and a center drain, t.v. hookups, phone and woodstove.

The garage has two bays with 10’ insulated metal automatic roll up doors, numerous storage shelves and a long work bench.  The property has numerous outside lights.
